A weekly meal planner built around the day you shop

Tell Repast what your household likes and when you cook. Its AI chooses the dinners, fits them around your shopping day, and brings you a week ready to review. When Wednesday changes, move a dish or ask for another. The plan can change with your week.

Five steps, once a week

The setup questions exist because each one changes the plan. There is no question here whose answer the planner ignores.

  1. Anchor the week to the day you shop

The cycle starts on your shopping day, not on Monday. Pick Sunday and the week runs Sunday to Saturday; pick Wednesday and it runs Wednesday to Tuesday, because the thing that governs a week of dinners is when the fridge is full.

  2. Say which nights you are cooking

Seven nights is a fiction in most households. Cooking nights are a multi-select, weekdays are the default, and the nights you leave out stay in the plan as nights you are not cooking rather than disappearing.

  3. Review the proposal in one column

Dinners arrive as a single vertical rail, the next one enlarged and the rest compact. One and a half screens covers the week, which is short enough to actually read rather than skim.

  4. Pin what you want kept, then ask for the rest again

A pinned dish survives a re-plan. Everything unpinned is fair game, so you can accept Monday, reject the rest, and get four fresh proposals without losing the one you liked.

  5. Build one grocery list

Tap to build the list from your planned dinners. Repast works out the ingredient totals and opens the list for shopping. After a menu change, update the list to get the new quantities.

A plan you can argue with

Use the AI meal planning assistant to put a change into words. “Steak on Friday” names the dinner and the night; Repast finds a replacement for you to review and apply.

The first proposal is a draft, not a verdict. Every dish carries a card-level action and every change is reversible, which is the difference between a plan you edit and a plan you abandon.

Swap

Reject one dinner and Repast offers replacements that still satisfy everything you have set: the household size, the allergen rules, the time budget, and any constraint you added in chat. It does not fall back to a broader pool to find something.

Pin

Pinning marks a dish as decided. Re-planning leaves it alone. The one thing that overrides a pin is a safety rule — adding an allergen re-checks the entire week, pinned dishes included, and pulls out anything that now breaks it.

Drag

Press and hold a dish, then drop it on another night. If that night is occupied the two exchange places; if it is empty the dish moves in. The list you already shopped does not change, because the same seven dinners are still being cooked.

Say it in words

“More veg, less time on Wednesday” and “nothing with rice two nights running” are both valid. Each instruction becomes a chip pinned above the rail, so the rules the planner believes it is under are legible rather than buried in a conversation you would have to scroll back through. Removing a chip asks first, then re-plans only the days it affected.

Undo

Every destructive edit leaves an undo capsule. On the plan it does not expire while you are still on the screen. This is the reason the app can afford direct manipulation at all: a drag that cannot be taken back is a drag nobody attempts.

An empty night is not a bug. If nothing in the catalog satisfies every constraint for a given night, Repast leaves the slot open and says so, rather than relaxing a rule quietly to fill it. The card offers the specific loosening that would fix it — for instance allowing 45 minutes instead of 30, with the number of extra dishes that would unlock — and waits for you to decide.

What the catalog can support

A weekly plan is only as good as the pool it draws from, so here is the pool, measured rather than described.

64%of recipes are 30 minutes or less, which is what makes a weeknight time budget enforceable rather than aspirational
97%are 45 minutes or less, so a relaxed budget opens up almost everything
71%ship more than one serving size, which is how a week can be re-scaled without changing the dishes
61distinct cuisines, which is what keeps five weeks in a row from converging on the same four dinners

Measured across the catalog on August 28, 2026. The pool a given household sees is smaller, because allergen and diet rules are applied before anything is proposed — see how the allergen rules narrow it.

Weekly planning questions

Can I just tell the meal planner what to change?

Yes, in plain sentences. “More veg, less time on Wednesday” and “nothing with rice two nights running” are both valid. What you asked for appears as chips above the week, so the rules the planner believes it is under stay visible rather than buried in a conversation.

Does a weekly meal plan have to start on Monday?

No. In Repast a week is a shopping cycle, and it starts on the day you told it you shop. That is why the setup asks for a shopping day rather than assuming a calendar week: the useful boundary in a household is the trip to the grocery store, not midnight on Sunday.

What happens when a night falls through?

Nothing that costs you the rest of the week. Drag the dish onto another night and the two swap; if the target night is empty it just moves. The grocery list has already been shopped, so a dish moved from Wednesday to Friday changes nothing you bought — which is the reason moving is a first-class action rather than a delete and a re-plan.

Can I plan more than one week ahead?

One active cycle at a time. When the current week runs out, the plan screen shows a seam with a prompt to plan the next one, and the finished week rolls up into the history above it. Planning three weeks in advance is a feature that reliably produces three weeks of plans and one week of cooking.

How many times can I change the plan?

As often as the week needs. Swapping a dish from the card, pinning, dragging a meal to another night and every undo are local edits, instant and unlimited. Typed instructions go to the planner as chat refinements inside the cycle, and each one shows you what would change before anything is written.

Is there a meal prep calendar view?

There is a month grid, but it looks backwards rather than forwards: days you cooked show the photo you took, and tapping one opens what you ate and lets you rate it if you have not. The forward-looking view is deliberately the single-column week, because a calendar cell is too small to carry the yield, the time and the allergen labels that a decision actually needs.
