A dinner generator that knows your household
Dinner ideas should fit the people eating them. Repast’s AI picks a week from 10,000+ published recipes around your tastes, household size, allergen settings, and available cooking time. Review the dinners, ask for any changes, and build the matching grocery list.

Generated does not have to mean random
The appeal of a meal generator is real: the deciding is the hard part of dinner, so let software decide. The usual disappointment is real too, because a random pick knows nothing about you. It will serve shellfish to a shellfish allergy and a ninety-minute braise to a Tuesday. Repast keeps the part you wanted, the decision made for you, and fixes the part that made it a toy. Generation here runs inside hard rules: ten allergens that can never appear, your household size, your weeknight ceiling, the nights you actually cook.
Each generated card also shows its reasoning in one sentence. A dish that can say why it was picked is one you can trust, or overrule with confidence. Either way you stay the editor, never the researcher.
Talk to it like a person
Behind the generator sits a planning agent you can converse with. Ask for more veg. Ask for something slower on Sunday and faster on Thursday. Ask it to keep Monday and rethink everything else. It regenerates around your words, shows the proposed changes side by side with what they replace, and writes nothing until you approve. Chat can tighten your rules but can never loosen them, so a regenerated week is always still a legal one.
A dinner planner that gets to know you
Repast has your dinner history to work with. Loved-it and not-for-us verdicts in your journal, saved favorites, and recent meals inform later planning requests. They give the assistant a picture of what works at your table, alongside the preferences you set now. If you are craving something different, tell the assistant what to change.
The output is a plan, not a suggestion
The generated week is saved in your plan. Tap to build the shopping list, and the dinner ingredients are totaled into one grocery list, computed on your phone, ready for a single trip on the day you shop. The whole confirmed week then rides on the device, so tonight’s answer is there even when the signal is not.
What the generator runs on
Constraints in, defensible dinners out.
Generator questions
Is there a dinner generator that isn't random?
Repast generates a full week of dinners on request, and nothing about it is a dice roll. Every dish is selected from 10,000+ published recipes to satisfy the rules you set: the allergens that can never appear, the number of people eating, the minutes you have on a weeknight, and the tastes your household has shown it. Random gives you an answer. Generation with constraints gives you your answer.
How does the meal generator decide what to suggest?
A planning agent reads your household profile and drafts the week the way a thoughtful cook would: dishes that fit the rules, variety across the nights, faster meals where the clock is tight, and one plain sentence on each card explaining why it was chosen. You can then talk to the same agent to reshape anything, in ordinary English.
Can I regenerate a dinner I don't like?
Any dish, any time. Swap one night and the replacement still fits every rule. Pin the dishes you want kept and ask for the rest again. Tell the agent something like more veg or nothing spicy this week, and it regenerates around that request while showing you exactly what changed before anything is final.
Does it learn what my family likes?
Yes. Your favorites, recent dinners, and meal feedback are included in later planning requests. Mark what your household loved and what was not for you, and the assistant can use that history alongside your current preferences. You can also tell it what sounds good this week.
What do I get besides the dinner ideas?
A menu you can take shopping. Once Repast has picked the dinners, tap to build their grocery list. The app totals the ingredients on your phone, one row per food, so you can shop from the whole menu. If you change a dinner, update the list when you are ready for the new quantities.
Do I need an account to try the generator?
No account, no email, no sign-in screen. Install the app, describe your household in a sentence, and generate your first week. The distance between downloading and holding a finished grocery list is a few minutes.
